TYPES OF HEADACHES
Tension/stress headache: A tension headache is the most common type of headache. It can cause mild, moderate, or intense pain behind your eyes and in your head and neck. Some people say that a tension headache feels like a tight band around their forehead.
Migraine headache: That tends to recur and causes moderate to severe pain. The pain is often described as throbbing or pulsing and usually begins on one side of the head. Migraine headaches are worsened by physical activity, light, sound or physical movement. Pain, nausea and visual changes are typical of classic form.
Cluster headache: Cluster headaches, which occur in cyclical patterns or cluster periods, are one of the most painful types of headache. A cluster headache commonly awakens you in the middle of the night with intense pain in or around one eye on one side of your head.
Sinus headache: Sinus headaches are headaches that may feel like an infection in the sinuses (sinusitis). You may feel pressure around your eyes, cheeks and forehead. Perhaps your head throbs.
A secondary headache may be a sign of a serious underlying medical condition such as: 1. Brain infection such as encephalitis or an abscess. 2. Brain tumour. 3. Hydrocephalus. 4. Problems with the blood vessels (e.g. bleeding or inflammation such as temporal arteritis). 5. Very high blood pressure.
